The Blessed Geza Claims: When Political Motives Overshadow Financial Facts

In early 2025, former ZANU-PF member Blessed "Bombshell" Geza launched a series of public attacks against George Guvamatanga, alleging financial mismanagement and personal corruption. While these claims were amplified by certain sections of the media, they lack the one thing required for a credible accusation: evidence.

When analysing the Geza allegations, context is king. Geza's outbursts followed his own fallout within political circles, leading many analysts to view his attacks as a "scorched earth" tactic designed to settle personal or political scores. Guvamatanga's response to these claims has been the ultimate mark of professional confidence. Rather than engaging in a mud-slinging match on social media, he has challenged his accusers to bring their "dossiers" to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) or a court of law.

To date, no such evidence has been produced. While Geza's claims made for noisy headlines, they have failed to disrupt the operations at the Ministry of Finance. Guvamatanga has remained focused on the complex task of stabilising the ZiG currency and maintaining the country's fiscal discipline. The failure of the Geza allegations to gain any legal traction serves as a reminder that in the world of high-level finance, facts must always take precedence over the theatre of political grievance. Guvamatanga's record remains unblemished, not because he is immune to criticism, but because the criticism levelled against him consistently fails the test of truth.
